Is your computer old?

Here are a few quick things to help you purchase your next computer. Typically, you should replace your computers every 3-5 years. It is possible to get longer use. However, at the rate that technology changes today, you will probably suffer from lost productivity and added expenses to maintain them after that point.

Basics
 Brand - Stick with Dell, HP & Lenovo
 Processor - Intel i Series processors (i3, i5, i7) Prefer i5 processor for most business computing
 Memory - At least 8 Gb, prefer 12-16 GB
 Hard Drive - Storage vs Speed (Traditional hard drive vs SSD hard drive)
 Operating System - Preferred - Windows 7 Professional, Windows 10 Professional
 Case Size - Tower, SFF or Tiny
Stay away from:
 All-In-One Computers
 Other brands (anybody that is not Dell, HP or Lenovo)
 Windows 8
 Home version of Windows
 Most “box” stores don’t sell business quality computers. This includes Office Depot, Staples, Best Buy & Walmart. They all compete on lowest price (lowest quality) for technology and focus on consumer (home user) electronics.
Software & Accessories:
 Office 2016 vs Office 365 (Recommend Office 365 Business)
 Dual Monitors or Larger Monitor (studies show an increase in productivity)
 Speakers (Many good choices)
 Microphone (Blue Snowflake or Samson Go USB Microphone)
 Webcam (Prefer Logitech, most HD models also have decent microphone built in
 Network Storage (Recommend Synology)
