Is your computer old?

Is your computer getting old? Let us help you upgrade to a new computer that is right for you. Give us a call or send an email to setup a time for us to review what you need and help you get the best computer for you.

Do you have a Windows 8 PC or Laptop, but find that it really doesn't run very well or you can't navigate like you used to do in previous versions of Windows? We have 5 Quick no cost or no cost tips to help improve your Windows 8 performance. Download our tip sheet to learn more.

Windows 10 Preview

Yes, the start menu is back in the Windows 10 Technical Preview. The start menu was completely gone in Windows 8, which was one of the biggest sources of frustration for most users. In Windows 8.1 the start menu was kind of put back but not really what most people wanted. It looks much better in Windows 10 as a nice combination of the traditional start menu that we are used to from previous versions blended with a few Windows Metro Tiles. So far this looks and behaves much better.

We will be testing Windows 10 and reporting back with our findings over the next few weeks.

5 Quick Tips to Avoid a Computer Virus

Computers are becoming a necessary thing for most people. We use computers everyday for work and play. Many of American households have one or more of the following devices; computer, laptop, tablet, smart phone, or smart TV. We use these devices for working, social networking, email, banking, e-commerce and entertainment. This increased use of connected devices has led to an increase in computer threats such as viruses, phishing scams, adware, scareware, spam, and lots of other unwanted activity.

Here are a few tips to help keep you safe:

Windows Keyboard Shortcuts

Download your Windows Keyboard Shortcuts file below.

fake java update, junkware scam

This is one of the new junkware scams that has been going around in the last couple of weeks. It looks like a real Java Update page, but pay close attention to the URL. The only official place to get Java Updates is at www.java.com. If you click on this button, your computer will install several harmful programs that will slow down your computer and/or make your computer unusable. Avoid this problem if you can, but if it is too late, come see us!

Microsoft Security Essentials Requires Your Attention

If you are getting the message Microsoft Security Essentials Requires Your Attention, it is probably because you are using a computer that has Windows XP and is running Security Essentials as the Anti-Virus. Microsoft ended support for Windows XP on April 8th 2014. That means no new updates or patches for Windows XP. This also means that Microsoft's free Anti-Virus solution, Security Essentials no longer works on Windows XP.

Many people were recently updated to Internet Explorer 11 by Microsoft. There is a bug in Internet Explorer 11 that will not let you type your password into a form on most websites. There are a couple of quick fixes.

1. Install Chrome or Firefox.
2. Try to use the compatibility mode in Internet Explorer
